Brief Abstract: Most organic materials are electrically insulating, but on a nanometer length scale, electrical charges can move at significant rates through some of them - this is an important feature in many of the large proteins that allow living things to use energy. I will present some strategies for making these nanoscale phenomena more easily observable on a macroscopic scale using a combination of nanoparticle and block copolymer self assembly.
