Brief Abstract: This talk is part of the short course on "Continuum Mechanics on Arbitrary Moving Domains" given by Guglielmo Scovazzi. The aim of this talk is to show the applicability of the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) framework in fluid-structure simulations. In this kind of problems the structure displacement modifies the fluid domain in time. The ALE formulation allows to solve the fluid problem in moving domains without too much computational cost. We will describe a popular fluid-structure algorithm using the ALE framework.
