Brief Abstract: A new family of mixed finite element methods for the Stokes and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. It is inf-sup stable and consistent, such that arbitrarily high order approximations can be achieved by increasing the polynomial degree. Furthermore, the discrete velocities are pointwise divergence free, therefore allowing to apply a continuous Navier-Stokes result. We will discuss a discontinuous and a continuous branch of this family and address its relation to the MAC scheme.
