Title: Heuristic Evaluations for Software Usability: A Quick Tutorial Speaker: Alisa Bandlow, Sandia National Laboratories Date/Time: Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 3:30-4:30 pm Location: CSRI, Room 95 Brief Abstract: If you’re interested in adding usability testing to a project without a lot of commitment or overhead, heuristic evaluation is a good starting point. Jakob Nielsen created “discount usability engineering” techniques to overcome the intimidation barrier to usability testing. In this talk, I will cover the basics of why usability is important, and how you can perform quick usability tests to support improvements in user interface design.
