Brief Abstract: If you’re interested in adding usability testing to a project without a lot of commitment or overhead, heuristic evaluation is a good starting point.  Jakob Nielsen created “discount usability engineering” techniques to overcome the intimidation barrier to usability testing.  Heuristic evaluation is the most popular usability test used today because it is cheap, quick and easy to learn.  In this talk, I will cover the basics of why usability is important, and how you can perform quick usability tests to support improvements in user interface design.
