Title: The Validation Methodology and the QUESO Library from the Center for Predictive Engineering and Computational Sciences (PECOS/ICES) Speaker: Ernesto Prudencio, University of Texas at Austin Date/Time: Wednesday, August 19, 2009, 2:00pm-3:00pm MST Location: CSRI/95 (NM), 915/S145 (CA) Brief Abstract: In this talk I will give an overview of the PECOS validation methodology and its research opportunities. I will also briefly talk about the Quantification of Uncertainty for Estimation, Simulation and Optimization (QUESO) C++/MPI library that we are developing at PECOS with the objective of leveraging our research capability on UQ and model validation. Background: Dr. Ernesto E. Prudencio is a Research Associate at the Center for Predictive Engineering and Computational Sciences (PECOS), at the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES), at UT Austin. Ernesto is part of the uncertainty quantification (UQ) team at the PECOS Center, a DOE/NNSA PSAAP program. This PSAAP center develops advanced computational methods, including modeling, simulation, validation, calibration, optimization, and uncertainty quantification, all with a focus on reentry applications (http://www.ices.utexas.edu/centers/pecos/).
