Brief Abstract: Isolated electron spins in solid state systems have demonstrated remarkable promise as potential quantum bits, combining long coherence times with fast operation and powerful nano-fabrication techniques. I will discuss approaches to building large-scale quantum information devices using such qubits, with a focus on the most difficult problem facing the field: coupling two such spin qubits in the inherently noise environment of a solid substrate.
