Brief Abstract: In this talk we discuss the concepts behind the design of the RAIN software engine for implementing AI behavior in games and simulation.  We will cover important aspects of situated intelligence, goal oriented behavior for virtual actors, and applications of AI to simulated environments.  The talk will include demonstrations of applied AI behavior within the Xbox Avatar system.
