Goal

The goal of this workshop is to define requirements for a common community product for HPC architectural simulation. This simulation product will:

1. Enable multiscale simulation
2. Work with proprietary simulators
3. Addresses the needs of multiple HPC communities
4. Form the foundation of an ecosystem for HPC simulation

Key Questions / Themes

1. Can a common infrastructure be built for Exascale HPC?
1. Is virtual prototyping for HPC realistic?
2. What are YOUR requirements?
1. What level(s) of simulation are needed?
3. How can we trust the simulators?
4. What is the right level of investment?
1. What are the investment areas/levels?

Audience

The workshop will bring together many communities. The two key communities are simulation “providers” (those who write simulations/simulators) and “customers” (those who use, or would like to use, simulators).

Format
The format for the workshop will be a full day of motivating presentations and breakout sessions, followed by half a day of breakout groups cross-critiquing and a plenary summarization.
