Jim Ang completed his PhD in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986. Jim also has
a M.S. from Berkeley, B.S. from the University of Illinois, and a B.A. from Grinnell
College. After a few years living and working in Santa Barbara, CA, he joined
Sandia National Laboratories in 1989. Jim's current responsibilities include:
organizing the Cplant Capability Release Forum, representing Sandia's high-end
computing needs at the Tri-Lab Expedited Priority Run meetings, and the administration
of Sandia's Computer Science Research Foundation program. His interests include:
the development of usage and investment policies for Sandia's Cplant System, and
the development of integrated platform strategies for Sandia's usage of Cplant,
ASCI Red, White, Q, and Red Storm, validation & verification processes for
scientific simulation, and hypervelocity impact physics. Jim is a member of IEEE,
IEEE-Computer Society, the Hypervelocity Impact Society, Tau Beta Pi, and Pi Tau
Sigma.
