Patty Hough is a Principal Member of
the Technical Staff in the Computational Sciences and Mathematics Research Department
at Sandia National Laboratories. She received her B.S. in Mathematics from Lynchburg
College in 1991 and her Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University
in 1996. Her primary interests include application-dependent fault tolerance and
parallel algorithms for nonlinear optimization under uncertainty, and she is currently
PI on a number of projects in these areas. She is one of the lead developers for
OPT++, a C++ library for nonlinear optimization, and she has organized CSRI-sponsored
workshops on fault tolerance that have provided a forum for discussion between
the DOE laboratory and university communities.
