Marc Ingber holds a B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering from Tulane University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the
University of Colorado, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the University of
Michigan. Dr. Ingber has been a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering
at the University of New Mexico since 1988 and chaired the Department from 1999-2002.
He assumed the position of Director of the High Performance Computing, Education
and Research Center in January of this year. His research activities have been
primarily focused in the areas of multiphase flow, vorticity methods, and high
performance computing. A major thrust of his research has dealt with particle-laden
inhomogeneous shear flows. He has 14 years experience in mesoscale modeling of
suspensions in shear flows using boundary element methods and 8 years experience
in continuum modeling of suspension flows using finite element methods.
