All utilities and daemons linked with the Cplant server library will log errors and warnings to a log file using the syslogd facility. We log to /var/log/cplant on our clusters, and often set up the compute and service nodes so that /var/log/cplant goes to the sss0 (or leader or mother) node. This log file is the place to look if a daemon seems to be experiencing problems.
The file that the Cplant daemons and utilities are logging to is named in /etc/syslog.conf as the target for the local7 facility.
