TotalView on Cplant

Before you start!

At present, we have an evaluation license for TotalView on Cplant. You need to be added to the tvusers group. Send email to galagun@sandia.gov requesting to be added to the group. I'll add you immediately, but because of the efficient MetaGroup system you will not be able to access TotalView until the next morning.

Where is TotalView?

TotalView runs on the compute nodes. To access TotalView you need to add this to your path:

• C-shell
  set path = (/cplant/toolworks/totalview.5.cplant/bin $path)

• Bourn shell
  export PATH="/cplant/toolworks/totalview.5.cplant/bin:"$PATH

How do I run TotalView?

TotalView is run through yod. You actually run TotalView on yod, and then dive down to see your code. There are two ways to start TotalView.

1. Start totalview on yod:
   totalview yod -a yod-flags executable

2. Start your executable and attach to yod through totalview
   
   • Start your code
   • Start TotalView
   • Left-Click 'Unattached' in the totalview window
   • Right-Click yod, select 'dive'
