Numerical Aspects of Circuit and Device Modeling Workshop (NACDM)
Bishop's Lodge, Santa Fe, New Mexico
April 3-5, 2002

The goal of this workshop is to forge connections between Sandia and leading world experts in numerical analysis and numerical aspects of circuit and device simulation. This workshop will contribute to the Xyce parallel electronic simulator and the linear and nonlinear solvers project at Sandia.

The topics of interest are:

  • Stiff, coupled time-dependent ODE/DAEs,
  • Large-scale nonlinear equations,
  • Sparse, ill-conditioned linear systems, and
  • PDE solutions for semiconductor devices.

The specific goals of the workshop are to:

  • Foster and strengthen collaborations between Sandia and leaders in circuit and device modeling and in numerical analysis.
  • Exchange information on the state-of-the-art methods for linear systems, nonlinear equations, ODE/DAEs and PDEs as applied to circuit and device simulation.
  • Assess barriers and challenges to creating a scalable parallel circuit simulator and identify promising algorithmic and software approaches for overcoming these barriers.

Organizing committee:

  • Tamara Kolda, Sandia National Laboratories, CA
  • Scott Hutchinson, Sandia National Laboratories, NM
  • Robert Melville, Agere System
