With the elimination of underground nuclear testing and declining defense budgets, science-based stockpile stewardship requires increased reliance on high performance modeling and simulation of weapon systems. Present electrical circuit modeling and simulation capabilities are being significantly expanded by using massively parallel computational resources.

Comprised of Xyce, ChileCAD, HEIDI, xdamp, and ChileSPICE, ESimTools is Sandia National Laboratories’ package solution to high performance electrical circuit simulations. ESimTools’ individual applications each offer both resources and a wide variety of capabilities towards analysis and development of electrical systems.

Xyce™
  Xyce™ is a distributed-memory analog circuit modeling tool compatible with serial, shared-memory, distributed-memory, parallel and heterogeneous computing platforms.
ChileCAD
  ChileCAD™ is a generalized schematic capture tool developed to provide users with desktop access to performance electrical modeling and simulation (HPEMS) tools.
HEIDI™

  Written in Java and available on a user’s desktop, HEIDI™ is a graphical user interface (GUI) designed to aid in remote job submission and parameter study analysis management.
 xdamp
 

As a graphical user interface (GUI), xdamp is designed to allow user manipulation of two-dimensional waveforms (data vs. time) and images commonly used in electrical engineering applications.

ChileSPICE™
  ChileSPICE™ has the distinct capability to perform electrical simulations on complex electrically circuitry with component counts in excess of 88,000 using a shared memory parallel simulation scheme.
