The Electrical & Microsystems Modeling Department develops and markets application software that support engineering processes and provide a 3D vision of systems at both the conceptual and material level. Providing both large scale computing solutions and customized modeling and simulation tools, our tools can encourage the efficiency of greater missions.

For the W76-1 Arming Fuzing Subsystem (AFS) project, the use of ASC codes such as Xyce has helped qualify designs in hostile environments by providing a drastically improved circuit model.

As a design tool, Xyce was instrumental in the successful design of the SA3989 because of its ability to conduct pad-to-pad simulations of the parts prior to manufacture.

Charon uses fininte element devices to analyze semi-conductor models with defect reactions. Similarly, Xyce has been used to look at circuit models with irradiation effects.

Integrated Stockpile Evaluation (ISE) is just one application of large-scale computing where a “massively-serial” circuit runs to support firing-set variability analysis. Our department’s services provide modeling & simulation support to Component Surveillance Program (CSP) by identifying key devices to focus research and testing. Furthermore, our technologies provide a predictive capability to Enhanced Surveillance Campaign (ESC) by identifying trends in device characteristics as a result of aging and the impact upon system performance margins.
