Variational multiscale stabilized shock hydrodynamics Previous/next topic

Three-dimensional Sedov blast on a hexahedral mesh.
Advances of the reserach work presented in the previous page are proposed in [1]. The variational multiscale (VMS) analysis has been used to develop a new stabilization appraoch, which was also combined with a globally conservative predictor/multi-corrector time integrator. Stable time step bounds and formal second-order accuracy estimates for the resulting method are derived, by means of the von Neumann stability analysis.
